Quick Mincemeat – Hilda M Fehrenbach

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb (1 c) ground beef
  • 3 c ground apples
  • 1 lemon, rind and pulp
  • 1 orange(ground)
  • 1 c sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cloves
  • 1 c water
  • 1 c ground raisins
  • 1 c vinegar
  • 1/2 c corn syrup
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp allspice
  • 1 tsp nutmeg

Directions

Simmer ground beef, water and salt until meat is cooked. Then add all other ingredients and simmer over low heat for 45 minutes. This makes about 2 quarts. It may be canned, frozen, or used at once in pies.
