Congo Bars – Katherine McGuire

Ingredients

  • 3/4 C margarine or shortening 
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 2 C brown sugar
  • 2 3/4 tsp baking powder
  • 2 3/4 C flour
  • dash of salt
  • 1/2 C chopped nuts
  • 12 oz pkg chocolate chips 
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Directions

Melt margarine, add brown sugar and eggs, vanilla, nuts and dry ingredients. Pour into a well greased cookie sheet pan and sprinkle with chocolate chips. Bake at 320 degrees for 30 min. Cool and cut into squares.
